Fund raising

Chinley Scouts - a registered charity
1st Chinley Scout Group is a registered charity. We first registered as a charity on 14th February 1984 and our charity number is 514718. You can check our credentials by looking at the Charity Commission website.

Funds are held by the Group, for Group purposes and by individual sections to help fund their own programmes. Our accounts are audited annually to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Scout Association and the Charity Commission.

What we need funds for
We raise funds to enable us to give our boys an active programme whichever section they are in. This involves

• provision of equipment for weekday evening and weekend events
• funding for larger or longer camps or residential section activities
• maintenance of our headquarters building
• helping individual Scouts achieve special Scouting challenges and pursuits (for example attendance at a World Jamboree)
• provision of uniforms for leaders

How we raise funds
Raising funds is an all year challenge. Some of our sources of revenue are

• termly subscriptions by boys to their section (these funds remain with the section for Beaver, Cub or Scout activities). These subscriptions can also be paid by covenant. Contact our Treasurer for more information on covenanted subscriptions. Termly subscription for all sections is £25
• Bag Packing at a local supermarket
• Sponsored events by the Group together or sections for their own funds
• Gifts from individuals through wills or charitable donation
